Asheville, North Carolinaは第2のポートランド

実はAshevilleの前にCharlotteに行くはずでしたが…

Amtrakが5時間くらい遅れて乗るのを諦めました．と言うのも夜11時に出発予定ていうのが5時間遅れたらたまらない．

それに予定になかったAshevilleを訪れることにしたため，Charlotteでの滞在予定時間は夜中の1時から7時まで．それが5時間遅れたらもういいやってなった．

おかげでぐっすり眠れてゆっくり準備してからお昼に出発．

Ashevilleはホストに進められて行くことになったんです．ヴィンテージとかが好きならCharlotteじゃなくてAshevilleだってすごく言われました．笑

まだアメリカ以外ではあまり知られてないけど，Ashevilleは第2のポートランドのような街だそうです．ワクワク！ホストに感謝！

バスで2時間ほど．

着いてからこっちでお世話になるコミュニティーの人が迎えに来てくれました．

コミュニティーでお世話になるのはこれが初めて．

いろんな人との出会いが期待できそうです．

Twelve Tribes

そうして着いたAshevilleのお家．

オーガニックファームをやっていて30人くらいの人が暮らしている 言ってみれば宗教団体のようなものだけど，私のようなバックパッカーや旅人を歓迎している村です．

みんな自給自足で，お金もお家も食べ物も全てシェア．PEACEを大切にしているそうです．もちろん電気とか最低限必要なものは外に買いに出かけます．そのお金は経営しているオーガニックファームで得た資金や，ティーの販売などで得ています．

工場も見たけど本当にいわゆる“工場”で最近では海外にも発送しているそうです．

そのお茶が本当に美味しい！感動しました．おすすめはCHAIです．

スパイシーで完全オーガニック．

ここの人たちは豚やお酒は口にしないけど，その他のものは割と食べるそうです．

でも毎食出るものはヘルシーでオーガニック．植物以外にもヤギやチキンもいます．

初日はキッシュとレタスのサラダ．量は少ないけど全部手作りっていうのはすごい．ここでできたものでほぼできてるそう．

美味しかったー

みんな「ここでの暮らしが幸せ」と言ってました．子供もたくさんいて，みんなこの敷地内で教育を受けてるそう．みんな楽器が弾けてバイオリンとかギター，アコーディオンなんでも．

毎日朝の6時と夜の6時に集まって，お話しして歌って踊ります．踊りも結構激しくて朝からすごいなーなんて思います．

みんな優しくて私を受け入れてくれました．

このコミュニティーは日本にもあり，海外でも様々なところにあるそうです．アメリカにもまだまだたくさんあります．

最初はちょっとどうかなーなんて不安だったけど，そんなことありませんでした．私もすごくヘルシーで元気を取り戻した気がします．

やっぱり早寝早起きは大切．

あとみんなが身につけている衣類やヘアバンドも特徴的で，すごく綺麗！男性はヒッピーのように髪が長い人が多いです．

ここでは2泊しました．

1泊目はゆっくりして，2泊目は朝からダウンタウンへ出かけて，ヴィンテージストアを回りました．やっぱり数が多い！10件くらい回ったのかなー．

そして歩きました！　23km！

ダウンタウン以外は人が歩いてなくて車ばっかり．

ちょっと怖かったけど，水持ってたからなんとかなりました．

結局ヴィンテージショップでは何も買わなかったけど，良さそうなものもたくさんありました．

服は少なかったのが残念です．まだポートランドの方が多いですね．

雑貨やインテリアはAshevilleの方が豊富．店の数もAshevilleの方が多いです．

何も買わなかったのが期待外れでしたが，散策できてよかった．

そして最終日

今日はコミュニティーの休息日．この日は朝の集いが8時なので途中までしか参加できず．

朝9：15のバスなので8時30分に出発しました．

しかし，またバスが2時間遅れるという事態に．嫌い．

乗り換えだから目的地のRichmondまでは予定通りにつけそうだけど，ちょっと迷惑ですね．遅れる規模が違う．まだ明るいうちでよかった．

次のバスは遅れないでほしい．本当に．

Ashevilleまた戻ってきたいなー

[:en]Unfortunately, I supposed to go to Charlotte before Asheville, but Amtrak was delayed for 5 hours. So I just gave up. It supposed to leave at 11PM and delayed for 5 hours. It’s hard to get up. And visiting Asheville was not on my list before, so I was able to stay Charlotte for 5 hours if it is on time.so I thought I cannot make it. It is okay my host said there is nothing to do in Charlotte lol.

So I changed my plan. I was able to sleep until noon. I decided to go to Asheville because my host recommended me there if I like vintage stuff.

I was happy that I got the information.

No many foreign people know about Asheville but Asheville is like a second Portland!

It is just two hours from here. When I got here, the people in the community came to pick me up at the bus station. It was my first time to stay in community. I can expect to meet many people!

Life in “twelve tribe”

I arrived at my house.

It is so beautiful. They run an organic farm and about 30 people are staying here together. This is like a religious group but they welcome backpacker and travelers.

They live by themselves. They share money, house, food… everything. Of course they buy electricity and what they need at least to the outside. they run businesses of organic farm and tea factory so they get money from there.

I saw the factory and yes it is what is called “factory”. They ship teas to overseas. And the tea is so good and healthy. I like Chai the best. It is 100% organic and spicy.

They do not have pork and alcohol but other than that they eat many things. Every meal, they cook with their own vegetables. They also have goat and chicken. At the first day, we had quiche and lettuce salad. It is not much but it is all organic! I loved it.

Everybody said they like here and they are happy. Community has a lot of families and children. They have their own home school so the children doesn’t go to school outside. They can also play some musical instruments such as guitar, violin, and accordion etc…

We gather every 6am and 6pm. They sing and dance and talk a lot. Even in the morning they dance.

This community(twelve tribes) is all around the countries. In the U.S, Australia, Japan…

At the first time, I was wondering about this community. But it isn’t. I became even healthy and strong.

We also wake up early and sleep early. This is also important.

The clothes and hair band they wear are also characteristic and cool! A lot of men has a long hair.

I stayed here for 2 nights. First day, I just took a rest, and the second day I went out to check the vintage stuff. There were a lot of stores! I looked over 10 stores.

I walked a lot. 23km!

I didn’t see any people walking without downtown area. I was kind of nervous but I had water so I made it.

Unfortunately, I didn’t buy anything but there are a lot of vintage clothes I want. Asheville has a lot of stores and market but most of them are interior and exterior stuff. I think Portland has more clothes.

day 3.

Saturday is the rest day of this community. We do not gather at 6 am but 8 am.

My bus departs at 9:15am so I left the meeting earlier.

However the bus was delayed again. Now I am still bus station. without internet.

I hate this.

I need to transit at another station so I think I can make it on time to Richmond. But it is too much. it was better because it is still day time not night time. I hope the bus I transfer won’t deley.
